Damaged books? Anyone want them?

January 6, 2011 By Mary

I have a few books (some ARCs and finished copies) that I received damaged.  They are still readable and almost new, but I don’t like to send them out in such condition.  And well, one book I loaned out, that someone read while eating a cookie and decided that it would make a good napkin.  But only on the flyleaf, so the rest of the book is fine.

Anyone interested in this idea?  I started a poll — right over there ————-> and up to the right.

Of course!! I am going to give away a *slightly* damaged book later this month…It’s an ARC that absorbed a little of my morning coffee. But, it’s a title that people want and I don’t need it. I figure someone won’t care. I wouldn’t!

YAY — I am glad for the positive response. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word parts and the damage is restricted to the covers, edges mostly. I will get to posting them as giveaways then. Of course I will describe/document the damage fully. They just couldn’t be regifted.

Yes! Damaged books don’t make a difference to me – it’s the wording that counts, right?

Yes! I don’t mind so long as I can read it!

As long as the book is readable, it doesn’t really matter to me. Especially if its a book I really want to read. ^_^

I read one I had that the dog ate. She was nice enough to leave most of the words.

As long as it is readable, I would hate to see something bad happen to a book (like it get thrown away).

Count me in! As long as its readable, it doesn’t have to be new!!

    I don’t discriminate. A book is a book is a book ๐Ÿ˜€

New is nice, but a book is a book as long as you can read it!

I actually collect weird books! I have a few with misprinted covers, and sections missing from the middle, that kind of thing.

The only thing I don’t like are books with missing pages. My dog and cats chew my books. As long as they are still readable that is all that is important.

@susan — I haven’t even started this one over at BookHounds yet, but yes, we are. I am just taking a poll here to see if it was viable.

I buy used books from the library all the time and don’t mind that they’re used. As long as you can read the book it’s fine with me. I’ll take your used books with great pleasure.
