“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:
To solve the crisis, the oracle stones are cast, and Kaede and Taisin, two seventeen-year-old girls, are picked to go on a dangerous and unheard-of journey to Tanlili, the city of the Fairy Queen. Taisin is a sage, thrumming with magic, and Kaede is of the earth, without a speck of the otherworldly. And yet the two girls’ destinies are drawn together during the mission. As members of their party succumb to unearthly attacks and fairy tricks, the two come to rely on each other and even begin to fall in love. But the Kingdom needs only one huntress to save it, and what it takes could tear Kaede and Taisin apart forever.
The exciting adventure prequel to Malinda Lo’s highly acclaimed novel Ash is overflowing with lush Chinese influences and details inspired by the I Ching, and is filled with action and romance.

Interesting. I hadn’t known much about the book when I first considered putting it on my list of books I’m waiting for really. I have Ash, but didn’t know this was the sequel. Based on the about information I wouldn’t even know they were related if no one mentioned that part.
Now I wonder what to read first. This is why I don’t like having the prequel after the other book is published. We sort of know where the character is going to end up before reading it then. Sure, it can be a great story still and have many surprises. But if say it’s a love story and the sequel, which was published first is a love story with a different love interest, then we pretty much know the result of the prequel one. Even though they might be the main character in one and the love interest in the other, it’s still a tough call.
I haven’t heard of this author before. Looks interesting. The cover reminds me of Steel by Carrie Vaughn.
I’m so looking forward to this, plus the cover is awesome! On a side note, your blog inspired my husband to sing this morning. He passed it while I was searching and started to sing the Forever Young song…too funny 🙂
I’m waiting for this! 🙂 It’s supposed to come any day for me. I haven’t read Ash before. : I shall read it after Huntress! 🙂

This book sounds awesome, I can’t wait to read it!
Huntress is actually a prequel to Ash. They take place in the same world, but Huntress is taking place way way way before Ash. So you don’t actually have to read Ash first.
I’m very much looking forward to Huntress; I really really liked Ash!
