ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tracey Martin grew up outside of Philadelphia, the lucky recipient of a drama-free childhood, which is why she spent so much time reading about other people’s lives. It was while she was working on her doctorate in psychology that she had an epiphany–imaginary people are way more fun than real ones. And so she began writing. Never able to choose just one of anything, she currently writes both urban fantasy for adults and contemporary stories for teens.

She likes her coffee simple, her music epic, and her movies to contain explosions. A city girl at heart, she doesn’t understand how she and her husband ended up living in New Hampshire, but writing keeps her off the mean, small town streets.

MY THOUGHTS
LOVED IT
Claire meets Jared at a party and in true Romeo and Juliet fashion, her parents do not appreciate him since he comes from the wrong side of the tracks.  The pair bond over their love of music, especially the Beatles and I loved how their discussions revolved around their favorite bands.  So when Claire’s mother becomes ill and suggests she break up with Jared, she does.  Jared takes it hard, but being a musician, he does what comes naturally and writes a song about the breakup.  When it soars up the charts (named “Daddy’s Girl”), she takes it hard, especially when her father loses her college fund and is dating his hot secretary.  
As Claire tries to remake her life, clerking in a grocery store in a small college town, she runs into Jared. Her best friend goes to school with Jared’s friend, so it is only a matter of time when the two run into each other.  The only ones to really know what the song is about are her sister and best friend.  Overall, this is a sweet homage to Persuasion that is full of humor and romance.  I loved how the author worked in so many musical references.  It was enjoyable and a perfect summer read.  I know we are in winter, but it just reminded me of summertime.
