Review CRASH INTO YOU by KATIE McGARRY @HarlequinTeen @KatieMcGarry

December 18, 2013 By Mary

Crash into You (Harlequin Teen) by Katie McGarry

Book Description

Publication Date: December 1, 2013

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life—that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker—a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks—no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT
Rachel Young lives a perfect life, so perfect, in fact, that in her quest for perfection, she has an ulcer.  She feels like she is the replacement daughter for her more than perfect older sister who has died from cancer.  She is not the girly girl that her sister was.  She would rather be under the hood of her car and racing it.  As her parents push her to be more like her sister, the more she becomes sicker in trying to be something she is not.  The only time she feels like herself is when she can race her Mustang GT late at night while her twin brother covers for her.  With two more older brothers, she finds herself overprotected and suffocated by them. One night she just happens upon an illegal street race, something she has dreamed about.   The race turns out to be a literal bust and she meets a guy that saves her butt from arrest.
Isaiah comes to her rescue in more ways than one when he hides her car and gets her home safely.  Isaiah, comes from the wrong side of the tracts and is fighting to make it through school and out of foster care.  He has a gift for auto mechanics and with the help of his teacher and employer, they try to get him into an elite program for mechanics.  Things are so stacked against him at time, it will break your heart. Of course, Rachel’s parents don’t want her to have anything to do with such a loser and it all comes down to a heart stopping moment.
I might forgive the author for this, but I really thought it was the end and stopped reading, it was so emotional.  It took me several days to go back to this one and finish it.  I adore McGarry’s writing and she can cut to the quick with emotions.  I don’t know how she does it, but I hope she never stops. This is a true Romeo and Juliet story that will almost, but not quite, break your heart.   Parents:  This one has language, some violence and sexual situations.  If you enjoy Jessica Sorensen or J. Lynn, you are going to love this one as well.
