PLEASE WELCOME KRYSTEN TO BOOKHOUNDS YA
1. What is the first book you remember reading by yourself as a child?
It was A Birthday for Frances by Russell Hoban & Lillian Hoban. It’s about Frances the badger getting ready for her little sister, Gloria’s birthday. I remember Frances buys Gloria a Chompo bar (candy bar) and four gumballs and then proceeded to eat the candy bar and chew the gum and then feel guilty. I can’t tell you what I had for breakfast this morning and yet I remember the exact number of gumballs and the name of the candy bar because I loved that book so much. I read it over and over again.
2. What are you reading right now?
I always have two or more books going at the same time. Right now I’m readinga YA novel called, Until Wishes Are Fulfilled by Michael Alexander, Finding My Way Home by Alina Man, and even though I haven’t finished the other two, Lucid by L.E. Fred, is calling to me to come read it.
3. How does your garden grow?
With diligence and skill. Although I should probably weed a lot more out of my life—bad habits and such…oh yeah, and in the yard, too!
4. What is the last thing you Googled?
Oh man, I wish I could say it was something intellectual like an article on philosophy, but nope. It was me trying to find the Daily Mail’s online news website. I’m a news junkie, but I also like my share of bubble gummy entertainment news, too, and this site fulfills both those needs. I can learn what’s going on in the world and then find out what amazing nail polish Jennifer Lopez is now wearing.
5. What makes you cringe?
Seeing people act rude in stores and restaurants. It bothers me when people get their feelings hurt or get bullied and pushed around. Once I was in Kroger and saw this teen girl who was bagging groceries get yelled at and afterward I went over to tell her I thought the customer was just having a bad day and it wasn’t personal. She gave me a hug. I just can’t stand to see that sort of ill treatment.
