Action, adventure, and romance are heating up in this sequel to the futuristic science fiction thriller Burn Out. Perfect for fans of Across the Universe and The Memory of After.
Caelia is the new Earth. That's what the Consulate told everyone and, against all odds, Tora finally has made it there. She can't see the ocean from her cell in the Consulate's containment center, and she doesn't know what happened to the weapons her father died for and she's risked her life to save.
But as she plans her escape, she runs into the last person she ever expected to see-her dad. The Consulate has kept held him prisoner in a complicated plot designed to lure Tora out of hiding. Now Tora has a new purpose: break free, get the guns, and save her father.
But first she'll have to navigate a strange new planet, track down James (whose loyalties still remain questionable), and find Kale…before he finds her first.

PLEASE WELCOME KRISTI TO BOOKHOUNDS
1. What is on your nightstand?
I’m finishing Of Breakable Things by A. Lynden Rolland which is an awesome ghostly YA, and I’m re-reading a finance book by Tony Robbins (because I’m a total dork).
2. What author would you totally fan girl?
Lois Lowry. I always recommend The Giver as the best YA dystopian ever written.
3. What makes you cringe?
I’m not sure if you mean cringing in general or not, but in terms of writing stuff, I last cringed when I re-read my first attempt at writing fiction. Let’s not revisit that.
4. What is a typical “writing day” like for you?
Ha—I wish I had a typical writing day and my goal is to improve on that. For now, it’s: drag myself out of bed at 6am, wake kids for school, make lunches, feed dogs, pour coffee, take kids to school, open manuscript, check email, respond to Twitter notifications, read where I left off on manuscript, check Facebook, pour more coffee, walk dogs, call husband at work to vent that I have no time to write, pour more coffee, edit the same sentence three times, write one new page, check email…you get the idea.
Here’s what I want it to look like in an ideal world: wake at 4:30a energized to work on the book, write amazing pages that require little editing before my kids wake up on their own and announce they’re making their own lunches, sip coffee while I gaze at my perfect prose and type 10K more words before they return from school. That would be fabulous, but I have a ways to go. Sigh.
5. Do you really think the sun will burn out any time soon?
No. Well, not unless that exact scenario in the book happens in the next month or so. The astrophysicist I consulted with for BURN OUT assured me that while that scenario is plausible, it is highly unlikely—luckily for us.
