This is harder than you think, because I know what YA you like to read, it mirrors mine, so tough to find something out of the ordinary. But, I grew up reading the Betsy Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace, about two little girls growing up in Deep Valley, MN. (which is really Mankato). They are much beloved by tons of people, even some ‘famous’ authors like Anna Quindlen. My favorite of the younger stories is “Betsy Tacy Go Downtown.” My favorite of the older/high school stories is probably Betsy and Joe. Betsy’s Wedding, though, is a close second, along with the elusive Carney’s House Party.
