About the Author:
Patti is an award-winning author with a passion for the paranormal. Now with multiple series in happy publication, she lives in Canada with her patient husband and six demanding cats.
- What is on your nightstand?
I don’t own one J Though, I do have a headboard… my Kindle Fire, my asthmatic cat’s inhaler, an empty bowl with chip crumbs the pug is desperate to get his tongue on and the remotes for the TV.
Oh, you meant books! Right now I’m reading my own work in edits—when I’m finishing a project, I try to stay away from other people’s books—too tempting!
- What author would you totally fan girl?
JK Rowling, without a doubt. I adore her, think she’s not only a brilliant writer but a master entrepreneur/business woman who handles everything with grace, compassion and humor. She’s fantastic.
- What makes you cringe?
Saying no to what makes you happy. I hear so many people sigh over wishing they could, when all they have to do is take a step in the right direction. I make sure to find happy every day, in as many moments as possible. Because, it’s about the path, not the final destination.
- Are you worried that your google history will get you into trouble?
Sometimes, though I mostly Google about obviously fantastical things (such as time travel, kids names and magic). But, when I was outlining my adult paranormal murder mystery series, I probably made the FBI watch list. I now know far too much about how bodies decompose in water…
- Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
Yes and always. That’s the fun part about outlining for me. I use a process I developed from all of my different forms of training—college English, journalism and screenwriting. It’s creative, fun and exciting and always makes me bounce in my chair as pieces of the puzzle fit together like they were made for each other. But, there’s always room for those extra “ah-ha!” moments which I also adore. Writing is the best job ever. (Not biased or anything…)
