PLEASE WELCOME LISA TO BOOKHOUNDS YA
Does Social Media Help or Hurt While Writing a Book?
Depending on the day, I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I love connecting to other authors, people in the publishing world and of course, readers. But sometimes the light speed of Twitter can be overwhelming, as can the barrage of status updates on Facebook and Instagram.
When I’m deep into a first draft, I don’t spend as much time on social media because I try to stay in the world of my book. Occasionally I might tweet a line from my WIP just for fun, but mostly I try to crank through the first draft. I do love Instagram, so I stay fairly active on that most days, and tend to post things like photos of my animals or funny stuff that has nothing to do with my book.
Once a book is about to be published, I spend a lot of time on social media trying to get the word out, in tandem with my publisher, in ways that I hope are fun and engaging, in hopes that readers will check out my book to see if it’s their particular catnip.
Something I really love about social media is the ability to connect with people all over the world, and with the “superstars” in the publishing world. I’ve found that most people appreciate shout-outs and reply to them, which is really fun. I try to reply to all Tweets, FB posts, Instagram comments, etc. I enjoy connecting with readers and other book lovers, so feel free to connect with me!

Sounds like a great book! And love the nanny survival kit!!
I love being connected to authors on social media. I also kinda thought of them as rock stars or actors, someone who would never get my email or want to hear from me. It’s nice to know that authors do care to hear from their readers.
Dying to know what the secret is!!!!
Sounds so good, thanks for the chance!!
