Title: HOW TO DISAPPEAR
Author: Ann Redisch Stampler
Release date: June 14, 2016
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 416
Formats: Hardcover, eBook
Description:
This electric cross-country thriller follows the game of cat and mouse between a girl on the run from a murder she witnessed—or committed?—and the boy who’s sent to kill her.
Nicolette Holland is the girl everyone likes. Up for adventure. Loyal to a fault. And she’s pretty sure she can get away with anything…until a young woman is brutally murdered in the woods near Nicolette’s house. Which is why she has to disappear.
Jack Manx has always been the stand-up guy with the killer last name. But straight A’s and athletic trophies can’t make people forget that his father was a hit man and his brother is doing time for armed assault. Just when Jack is about to graduate from his Las Vegas high school and head east for college, his brother pulls him into the family business with inescapable instructions: find this ruthless Nicolette Holland and get rid of her. Or else Jack and everyone he loves will pay the price.
As Nicolette and Jack race to outsmart each other, tensions—and attractions—run high. Told in alternating voices, this tightly plotted mystery and tense love story challenges our assumptions about right and wrong, guilt and innocence, truth and lies.

PLEASE WELCOME ANN TO BOOKHOUNDS ya
1. What is on your nightstand?
A tattered map of Paris and the program from a concert at Notre Dame from my husband’s birthday; Three spiral notebooks that contain a mixture of notes for my current passion project (an historical thriller based on real events) and to-do lists; a waxed linen and silver necklace; a beautiful antique but completely non-functional Chinese ginger jar lamp; Amy Spaulding’s The New Guy; two fine-tip Pilot pens
2. What author would you totally fan?
Would you consider a séance that produced Jane Austen? I know, it’s such a cliché, and it’s so girly, but what can I say? To the extent that it’s girly, it’s proof that girls have superior taste in books.
3. What makes you cringe?
The standard stuff that made me cringe as a five year old: meanness, bullies; the nasty, couldn’t-care less kind of rudeness that makes the person on the receiving end feel three inches tall; being guilt-tripped; watching somebody waste a perfectly good chocolate cupcake.
4. Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
I go with the flow in the first draft, and then outline and plot obsessively to address the chaos I’ve created for the next however many drafts.
We lost our beautiful 19 year old rescue terrier-chow on Sunday. He’s the tiny dog. Our cuddly 90 lb. lapdog of indeterminate age (two-ish?) is asleep next to me right now.

I think I would like to meet Jack. Thanks for hosting. It does sound like a good book.
I’d like to meet Jack the most. Nicolette seems nice but Jack sounds more intriguing to me.
Oh my – I want to meet them both! I would love to meet Nicolette to learn her side of the story and I want to meet Jack simply to find out how you deal with being part of a mobster family!

I’m going to say Nicolette. She has to be really smart to stay ahead of Jack and other mobsters to stay alive.

I would like to meet Jack.
I would love to meet both Nicollette and Jack, but I feel like Jack is going to be such a strong, dynamic character.
