Seventeen-year-old Reagan Elizabeth Hillis is used to changing identities overnight, lying to every friend she’s ever had, and pushing away anyone who gets too close. Trained in mortal combat and weaponry her entire life, Reagan is expected to follow in her parents’ footsteps and join the ranks of the most powerful top-secret agency in the world, the Black Angels. Falling in love with the boy next door was never part of the plan.
Now Reagan has to decide: Will she use her incredible talents and lead the dangerous life she was born into, or throw it all away to follow her heart and embrace the normal life she’s always wanted? And does she even have a choice at all?
Find out if you are ready to join the Black Angels in the captivating and emotional page-turner, You Don’t Know My Name, from debut novelist Kristen Orlando!
About Kristen:
Writing is one of the great loves of my life (with bacon mac and cheese, Netflix binges and PJs also in the mix). My childhood in Columbus, Ohio was spent reading every single Baby-Sitter’s Club book ever written and acting out imaginary tragedies in my room (complete with costumes and props) until a really embarrassing age. I started writing plays for my younger cousins as soon as they were all old enough to act (The Spoiled Princess may be a personal favorite) and haven’t stopped writing since. After graduating from Kenyon College with a B.A. in English Literature, I’ve been lucky enough to make writing my career; first as a television producer, then as a marketer and now as a novelist.

PLEASE WELCOME KRISTEN TO BOOKHOUNDS YA
1. What is on your nightstand?
What’s really on my nightstand? The landline we still have for some reason and a bottle of water. I wish I could tell you it’s a book (I am currently reading The Red Queen. I know…so behind!) but I actually cannot read before bed because a) if I’m into a book, I’ll never go to sleep and b) it turns my brain on and gets me thinking about my own writing. I’ll find myself jumping out of bed to write out some dialogue or jot down a note. I can be a bit of an insomniac, so I usually have to watch really mindless TV before bed in order to fall asleep.
2. What author would you totally fan?
Oh gosh! So many. Judy Blume for sure! I’d have to bow down in front of her I think. She’s the first author that sparked the dream of writing books. There are a few other authors who I absolutely love who I’ve had the great fortune of getting to speak to including John Green and Gillian Flynn. I tried my very best to keep calm and not fan girl all over them. I think I succeed (at least I hope!)
3. What makes you cringe?
Awkwardness. When things are awkward or someone says something awkward or I do something awkward, I literally want to run home and take a shower.
4. Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
I do like to create a chapter by chapter outline, but things can change as you write. I really like to have a roadmap and know where I’m going with my books but I’m not opposed to detours. Sometimes the words and characters just take you in a totally different direction and I like to just go with it and see where I end up.
5. Is there a word you love to use?
There’s probably words I like to write too much! I try to watch out for those. I call them my crutch words and if I notice I’m writing them too much, I like to rewrite and change things up. As far as my favorite word, I’ve always loved the word facetious for some reason. It’s just such a fun word to say!
