#Giveaway Creating a Fairy Garden for THE CRUEL PRINCE by Holly Black @HollyBlack @TheNovl #CruelPrince Ends 2.16

February 5, 2018 By Mary

NOVL sent me a copy of The Cruel Prince and is partnering with me for a giveaway!

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1)

By Holly Black

Young Adult Fantasy

In Stores January 2nd, 2018

About The Cruel Prince

By #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, the first book in a stunning new series about a mortal girl who finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.

Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him—and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

CREATING A FAIRY GARDEN

Creating a Fairy Garden is really easy.

Here is what you need:

  1. Container or space (preferably shady)
  2. Potting mix for the container
  3. Small plants like Irish moss, stonecrop, or anything that looks magical and can be pruned to shape into fairy trees.
  4. Small stones and sand.  Use the small stones to make a fairy ring and the sand to create a path.
  5. If you like, you can add some magical wings – dead insects like dragonflies are perfect for this.  They lose all of their colors when they dry so it truly looks like an otherworld creature if you can find one! Also if you have any dead June Bug around and aren’t queasy about pulling their wings off, those make a nice feature to tuck under a plant.

First, fill your container with the potting mix without tamping it down too much.  Gently scoop out the mix to add your plants.  You need to figure out which plant is your featured focal point.  I like FUSCIA BEGONIA since it can be shaped into a nice tree-like shape.  Then add a few larger plants and work your way out to add the small plants to your path.  I am in love with these creatures !

Probably the best advice I have found on making these garden is from GARDEN ANSWER!
