A NOBLE DAUGHTER.
A FORMER SLAVE.
SCORCHED EARTH AND DANGEROUS GAMES.
“Jura imagined it sounded like rain.”
Juggling death is nothing new for seventeen-year-old Jura, daughter of the First of the Thirteen, successive rulers of the Republic of the Sand Sea. However, when a blood chain ensnares her father, she is thrust into the seat of power and forced to rule her elders.
“To Tylak, water had never tasted sweeter.”
Jura must track down her father’s assassin and balance a country on the verge of collapse. To find the Prince of Shadows and uncover the truth, Jura puts her trust in Tylak, a former slave accused of stealing from the Everflame—a man she once condemned to death.
In a world where water is currency and enemies lurk around every corner, Jura will use her wits or risk igniting a world war.

- What is on your nightstand?
All the things! I’m a bit of a slob. Let’s see, currently there is my kindle, a reading lamp, two glasses with varied amounts of water, a scarf, my dog’s collar (removed because he jingled too much at night) a piggy bank and loose change that should be in the piggy bank but is instead just sitting there, an extra cell phone charger and a small tower of books with a precarious lean.
- What author would you totally fan?
Do I have to pick one? It doesn’t say I have to pick one so I’m going to say J.K. Rowling and Brandon Sanderson. I’m currently reading Oathbringer by Sanderson and I would love to pick his brain on his cosmere but J.K. Rowling will always have a special place in my heart.
- What makes you cringe?
Rodents! I don’t do well with them and we live in the country so unfortunately, they are a part of life. Most horrifying moment with one involved my terrier hunting one and bringing it to me. While I was sleeping. By dropping it on my head. And that’s the day I almost died from a heart attack.
- Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
I definitely go with the flow. Ignited was written without an outline and I was genuinely surprised by how the story turned out. I did have to write outlines for its sequels but they are just broad notes on plot points that allow me to keep all my thoughts together.
- Is there a word you love to use?
Hmm, I love the word pandemonium but I don’t often use it. I do tend to overuse the character action of tilting one’s head, one beta reader pointed out that my MC reminded her of a bobble head so I had to do a search and destroy for the phrase.
Win one signed paperback of Ignited by A.M. Deese, one glow-in-the-dark dragon pendant, one leather-bound dragon journal, and a $5 Amazon gift card! This is a pre-order giveaway but you do not need to buy the book to enter, buying the book just gives you more entries.
