For seventeen-year-old Evan, graduation means the freedom to leave behind her small-town life and find where she belongs. She never expected it to be in a different world.

Across time and space, deep in a mysterious jungle, Evan discovers the hidden heritage of her mother’s people and her own legacy. She becomes their elemental, a protector gifted with the power to control nature. The role has its challenges, but the biggest is the inexplicable connection with her scarred bodyguard, Ren. Frustrated and fascinated by him, Evan resists the magnetic pull after realizing there’s more to it than simple attraction.

Claiming her birthright reignites the wrath of a ruthless enemy with a score to settle. To protect her new family, Evan will need to call on her formidable power. But embracing it could cause her to lose herself and the man who holds her heart.

About Rae:

I’m super excited to talk with readers and answer any questions you might have. My debut, Successor, is scheduled to release on 10/24/18, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

A little about me. I love reading, especially romance. I’m one of those people who needs a least a little bit of romance in a story for it to really catch my attention. I also love YA, and probably have more favorite authors in the genre than in romance.

When I’m not writing or reading, I’m usually watching movies–I have probably 800+ in my collection by now. I’ve recently gotten into painting, which I’m quickly falling in love with. I tend to be a bit crafty, so if I’m doing a giveaway, chances some of my handmade items will be included! I’m almost always listening to music, and my tastes are pretty eclectic. I also have 3 cats, which Successor is actually dedicated to!

That’s enough about me for now. I’d love to hear from you! I can also be found on twitter and on my website.

1.       What is on your nightstand?

Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake and Alec Mackenzie’s Art of Seduction by Jennifer Ashley. I’m a sucker for romance novels.

2.       What author would you totally fan?

Definitely Jennifer Ashley. I’ve read dozens of her books, and she’s been kind enough to chat with me a few times. I’d also love to meet Stephanie Garber. Legendary is one of my favorite books, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Finale next May.

3.       What makes you cringe?

In books, cliché phrases. As a writer, I can understand how they can be hard to avoid at times. But I do my best to avoid them in my own work as much as possible.

4.       Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?

I like to have a good roadmap so I know what plot points need to be hit. I’m an analytical thinker, so I need to know the logic of all my plot points. Otherwise I might end up halfway through a story and none of it makes sense. Once I have a solid foundation and know what needs to be done and why, I let the story unfold from there.

5.       Is there a word you love to use?

I use ‘dude’ a lot in my everyday life. It’s versatile! As far as writing goes, nothing comes to mind. Maybe someone can point it out to me someday.

I am over the moon excited about reading your book, it sounds like a spectacular story. I think I will be able to relate to the main character so much because of her goal to find out where she belongs, most days I feel the same way. I try to be positive and strong and take steps to discover who I want to be after I graduate, where I belong and the type of life i want to live. I want to travel the world and eat tons of croissants in Paris and Gelato in Italy and Baklava in Greece and live my best life! I believe that this will be the most wonderful book to read on the subway train and at home with a plate of yummy oreos! Thank you for this cool post and story!!

Aw! I’m so happy you’re excited to read it! I hope you like it 😊

Life can be pretty challenging, and one of the biggest challenges we face is figuring out who we are and what we want out of life. It took me until I was 28 to figure it out, which might seem late to some people. But you know the great part? Every person’s life is on a different schedule and a different path. We’re taught from a young age that we should want specific things, we should shoot for certain goals, and if we don’t reach them by a set deadline, we fail at life. Sooooo not true! I’m definitely not on a ‘typical’ life path as most people I know (house, marriage, family, etc.), but I’m so much happier because I’m on the path I know I’m meant to take. It took a while to figure out (and accept!), but so worth it in the end.

You have to do what you feel is right for you, and once you figure it out, put your heart into it. Just be patient with yourself! It’ll come when it’s meant to.

      Happy reading!
