If Fifty Shades of Grey and Dear Evan Hansen got together to watch Bambi, you would have Fawned – an “enDEERing” erotic romance about two lonely college students experimenting with petplay for the first time
Barnaby Hirsch isn’t one to put himself out there – he’s shy and, admittedly, awkward – but desperate times call for desperate measures. When he signs up for a dating app, the last person he expects to match with is the campus’ gay playboy, Gil Connolly.
It should have been a one-night stand, but it’s one night Barnaby can’t forget. It’s the closest he’s ever felt to someone, the closest he’s ever felt to belonging.
Gil wants someone to belong to him. He has a collar, and he wants someone to wear it.
Barnaby has a deer onesie, and he’s starting to think, maybe, the two might look good together.
When you purchase Barnaby’s Blend Tea from Adagio Teas, 5% of the sale will benefit The Trevor Project!
INTERVIEW
- What is on your nightstand?
On my left side, a turntable with a few records (Ben Platt, Elton John, Wham). On my right, a deer lamp with a few fawn figurines scattered around it. I’m very On Brand.
- What author would you totally fan?
William Joyce. The Guardians of Childhood series had a huge impact on my life, even beyond writing, and is still my all-time favorite series. I can’t help but see Joyce as a grandfather figure – someone who inspires me to be creative, who’s full of wisdom and knows the secrets to staying young at heart even as you get older.
- What makes you cringe?
Hands down: the way certain men write women. If it’s an erotica, I might be more forgiving, but in anything else–
Fellas, if you wouldn’t define your male character’s personality or mood by their junk, maybe don’t do it to the ladies! Her exact bust and hip measurements are likely not needed for the story, so please, keep it to yourself.
- Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
More often than not, I am an aggressive plotter.
It’s probably the reason it took me so long to write a full-length novel! I do a lot of brainstorming and note-taking because, before I become dedicated to a project, I need to know where it’s going. I need to be able to look over the steps, to make sure it makes sense. Y’know?
- Is there a word you love to use?
“Gentle”. Gentle voices, gentle touches, gentle souls…
There’s never enough gentleness, in my opinion.
(swoon – i may be in love)
