The Sharey Godmother

Samantha Berger
Mike Curato (Illustrations)

Discover the magic of sharing in this joyful picture book about the world of fairy godmothers, from award-winning author-illustrator team Samantha Berger and Mike Curato.

Meet Shari, the Sharey Godmother!

She loves to share! Whether it’s her seat on a rollercoaster, her tropical vacations, or candy from her candy jar, it makes her happy to see other people happy.

But some of the other fairy godmothers worry about Shari’s sharing. What is she getting back in return? So Shari tries NOT sharing and soon realizes that giving to others is a big part of what makes her who she is.

Bursting with color and magic, The Sharey Godmother reveals the joy of sharing for sharing’s sake and the power of generosity to make the world a more giving place.

REVIEW

This is a very thoughtful story about sharing.  Sharey is a fairy godmother who likes to share.  Nope, she LOVES to share.  It gives her life meaning and when well-meaning friends convince her that she shares too much.  Sharey fades into depression because she is not doing what she loves.  While this is sad, Sharey bounces back when other fairy godmothers convince her that she should do what she loves.  The illustrations are very unique with photorealism and something I haven’t seen in a children’s book before.  This is a heartwarming read about why being true to yourself is always the best course of action.  Perfect to read aloud and great for beginning readers.
