The Fair Folk are the stuff of myth. Stories of monsters and old magicks. But all myths carry a grain of truth. That truth is that remnants of this ancient power live on in the blood of their descendants.
When Tannin’s grandfather dies, he leaves her with a mountain of trouble. Between cryptic journals that warn of unknown foes lying in wait and a crippling debt owed to a cruel and formidable local Laird, Tannin is thrown into a cut-throat world where she is perilously out of her depth.
But her problems have only just begun. Secrets lurk in Tannin’s bloodstream – secrets not even she is aware of. And they want out.
A scheming princess with the offer of an alliance. A secret society with murderous intentions. A dark past that refuses to stay buried. Tannin’s life will never be the same.

REVIEW
Tannin must face her fears and ultimately the Fair Folk in this story that highlights those really bad mistakes she makes but learns from them. Finally, a strong female character that is real and fallible. When Tannin’s grandfather dies she is left with his journal and debts. She has a strong basis in reality until she is confronted with the magic that is present in Scotland and a wayward princess that confounds her. Of course, Snark is Tannin’s favorite accent and I could listen to her ponderings for hours.
“We don’t have to be friends. Just allies.”
“Allies I can do.”
Tannin is supported by Ava and Flint who are very well-rounded and just as snarky as she is. The dialogue is spectacular and as Tannin comes to realize that Fair Folks are real, she finds her grandfather’s cryptic notes even scarier than imagined. I was also drawn in by the scene-setting and world-building that can be so difficult to blend in seamlessly and believably in some books. While there is a lot of blood and gore, it is no worse than most fantasy books that I have read recently. Yes, there is also language – but really, this book couldn’t have been written any other way. This is so much fun and something different than the run-of-the-mill fantasy that I have read in a long time. There better be a follow-up to this one.

Remnants of Blood sounds great! Thank you
interesting cover
The description is intriguing. Children need more characters they can relate to, even in fantasy, as well as characters that represent all parts of society. You can’t understand what you know nothing about.
Congratulations and best wishes for a successful release.
