The princess didn’t expect to fall in love–with her nemesis.
Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee from his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king’s servitude.
Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.
Sepora’s gift could save Tarik’s kingdom from the Quiet Plague. But should she trust her growing feelings for her nemesis, or should she hide her gifts at all costs?

I live with my husband and daughter in the Florida Panhandle. I have a southern accent compared to New Yorkers, and I enjoy food cooked with real fat. I can’t walk in high heels, but I’m very good at holding still in them. If you put chocolate in front of me, you must not have wanted it in the first place.

MY THOUGHTS
Talk about being flown right into a wonderful fantasy! I am a huge fan of Anna Banks work and this one does not disappoint.
Princess Sepora is the last of her kind and her father has kept her prisoner making Illustrium, a mineral that can create power and light. With her gifts, he plans to take over the world and has already cornered a great deal of trade with it. Her mother fakes her death and gets her out of the palace to find a new life.
On her way to the next kingdom of Theoria, she encounters many trials and is finally sold off to the king’s harem. Of course she is no serving girl and quickly rises among the rest to become the right hand of the newly installed king. The new king Tarik is not aloof and hates the throne but he knows he must do everything possible because his people are dying and possibly Sepora has found the cure for their illness.
So much of this story is wonderful. The world building is easy to follow and believable. All of the minor characters are perfectly suited. Of course, the prince and princess come together to save the world, but have they? Yes, you guessed it – onto another one for this series. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more!
